International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM-2023)

Students from the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) have clinched Gold Medals at the International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM-2023), held from November 9th to 13th, 2023, in Katowice, Poland.

Organized by the University of Silesia, Katowice, and the Uppersilesian Branch of the Polish Mathematical Society, the ISTCiM-2023 has been a focal point for global mathematical excellence since its initiation in 2019. The competition, welcoming students at any stage of their studies—bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate—aims to foster a love for mathematics. Comprising an individual and team segment, participants grappled with a challenging array of problems covering Mathematical analysis, Functional and differential equations, Linear and abstract algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry and Probability theory.

English served as the official language for the competition, gathering about 100 students from diverse nations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Poland, and Turkmenistan.

Representing IUHD in this prestigious event were Myratgeldi Annamuhammedov, Medine Odayeva, and Nurmyrat Atayev. Under the guidance of Pirmyrat Gurbanov, the Head for Internships of Academic Affairs at IUHD, these talented students secured First Prizes and coveted Gold Medals.

The success story extended beyond individual achievements as the joint team of the International University for the Humanities and Development and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan earned a remarkable Silver medal in the overall standings.

Turkmenistan made a significant impact on the competition with representation from various institutions, including Magtymguly Turkmen State University (TDU), State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (TDEI), OguzHan University of Engineering Technologies (TITU), Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (HGI), Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan (TTII), Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction (TDBGI), Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov (TOHU), and Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management (TDYDI).

Magtymguly Turkmen State University secured a Silver medal, while the teams from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the joint effort of OguzHan University of Engineering Technologies and Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction each earned a Bronze medal.

In total, students from Turkmenistan's higher educational institutions achieved an outstanding tally of 8 Gold, 11 Silver, and 6 Bronze medals, showcasing the nation's excellence in the field of mathematics.
