Consultations on the development of the Joint Program on Youth, Peace and Security were held at IUHD

On September 22, 2023, consultations on the development of the Joint Program on Youth, Peace and Security were held at International University for the Humanities and Development. This event was organized by the United Nations Office in Turkmenistan and the representations of UN Agencies and attended by the representatives of the various government ministries, agencies and civil society organizations of Turkmenistan.

Moreover, the students, young SDG ambassadors and instructors of IUHD have actively participated in those consultations and discussions. The plenary session was held at the conference hall of IUHD and continued in the sections in the auditoriums.

At the beginning of the conference, the Head of Youth Organization of IUHD Ayjahan Nedirova welcomed all the guests and wished them successful outcomes during these consultations. Moreover, she widely discussed about the implementation of the Youth policy in Turkmenistan.

Then the Head of UNFPA Office in Turkmenistan Madam Ayna Seyitliyeva made an opening speech and familiarized the participants with the speakers and agenda of this event. In addition, she talked about the impact of youth in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals and the activities of UNFPA in achieving those goals.

Following the activities, UNFPA International Consultant Madam Susanna Dakash delivered online presentation on the topic “Youth, Peace, and Security”. Moreover, topics regarding youth employment, mental health, well-being and life skills, healthy family relationships were discussed during the conference.

After the coffee break, the participants continued activities in the auditoriums. They divided into 5 different groups and discussed on the following topics:

Group 1: Youth Employment and 21st Century Skills

Group 2: Psychological well-being and social skills

Group 3: Gender equality and healthy family relationships

Group 4: Prevention of violence and crime

Group 5: Solving environmental problems

After the discussions, the groups summarized the activities and gave conclusions on the results of the conducted consultations.
