On September 18-23, 2023, the Oguzhan University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan (ETUT) organized cybersport competition on Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) computer game disciplines among students.
Student teams from all higher education institutions of Turkmenistan have actively participated in these electronic sports (esports) competition.
During that week of cybersport, IUHD students as a team achieved best results in Dota 2 video game discipline winning the 2nd place and silver medals.
The team of IUHD was represented by Resul Hojanazarov, Rakyp Babayev, Muhammet Annagulyyev, Davut Gurbanalyyev, and Ashyrgeldi Atageldiyev, and supervised by the instructor of Computer technologies and systems department Nurmyrat Allayarov.
The winners of the cybersport competition were awarded with honorable certificates and memorable prizes from the organizers.
Esports or cybersport is rapidly gaining popularity in Turkmenistan since the establishment of the National Electronic Sports Federation of Turkmenistan in August 2018. Many young Turkmen citizens take part in international competitions in this sport. Organizing the esports competitions among the higher education institutions will further contribute to the development of this sport among the youth and create starting path for gamers that aspire to go professional in the future.
