On November 16, 2023, World Philosophy Day was celebrated at the International University for the Humanities and Development. World Philosophy Day is such a day for people in every corner of the globe to share thoughts, discuss new ideas, express words, and explore new opportunities. By celebrating the World Philosophy Day each year, on the third Thursday of November UNESCO underlines enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought for each culture and for each individual.
This year the celebration of World Philosophy Day coincided with the one-year birthday of the Philosophy Club of the University. The purpose of the club is to stimulate the study of philosophy among today’s youth and designed to help students improve their knowledge. It is especially important to note that during the solemn event, special attention was paid to the section dedicated to the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy. As we know, the year 2024 will be dedicated to the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy. As part of the event Eastern and Western philosophical cultural parts were decorated in the foyer. And at the same time there was held Philosophical book fair.
The ceremony was opened by the instructor of the Faculty of Social Sciences Yazgul Babayeva. After students of Philosophy major performed their impressive poem and wonderful songs. Then, the stage game “Human of the Future” was performed by Philosophy 1 major. The festive event was concluded with the song by Aynur Jumanyyazova.
Holding such thematic celebrations at an international university as the celebration of World Philosophy Day helps young students to find a common platform for discussing the global sociocultural transformations that takes place in society, familiarize people with the philosophical heritage, and open up the sphere of thinking for new progressive ideas.
