Ashgabat, Turkmenistan — On December 7, 2024, students from Turkmenistan’s higher educational institutions gathered to celebrate the International Day of Neutrality with a unique and innovative competition at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. The event featured a blend of traditional and digital sports, showcasing talents in both physical and cybersports, including CS: Global Offensive and various phygital disciplines such as football, basketball, and chess.

Among the standout participants were students from the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD), who impressed the participants and the audience with their exceptional skills in cybersports. The IUHD team achieved a well-earned third place and the Bronze Medal in the Cybersport discipline on the game “CS: Global Offensive”, marking a significant achievement for the university in this rapidly growing field.

The IUHD team, composed of talented players Muhammet Muhammedov, Selim Kekilliyev, Azym Otuzov, Ovezmuhammet Hydyrov, Aydyn Durdyyev, and Sanjar Deryayev demonstrated remarkable teamwork and strategic thinking throughout the tournament. The team was supervised by the representative from Exact and Natural Sciences department Halil Klychev. Their performance in the competition earned them recognition for both their digital dexterity and collaborative effort. Their success reflects the growing presence of IUHD in the emerging world of cybersports and its commitment to fostering student talent in this innovative field.

As the competition intensified, IUHD's players showcased their tactical mastery and adaptability, edging out other strong teams, including the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan, who placed second. The winners were awarded with a certificate, medals and memorable prizes. With the upcoming Games of the Future international tournament blending traditional sports with virtual and augmented reality technologies, the IUHD team’s success serves as a promising indicator of the university’s potential in future international competitions.

The Games of the Future concept, which combines sports with cutting-edge cybersports, is rapidly gaining popularity globally, and IUHD’s performance in this event highlights the university’s ability to excel in this forward-thinking arena. The university is already planning for more training and participation in such competitions as it continues to develop its students’ skills in both traditional and digital sports.
